What is Project Rachel?

Project Rachel is a Catholic post-abortion healing ministry serving people in Nova Scotia. It offers a safe place for women, men, and couples to speak about an abortion experience and seek healing with compassionate support.

The ministry is free, confidential, and non-judgmental. Support may be available in person or virtually, and can include individual sessions, small groups, telephone conversations, and an initial conversation through WhatsApp. You can begin simply by calling or emailing; you do not need to know what to say or commit to a program before reaching out.

Project Rachel is an initiative of Nova Scotians United for Life within the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, with the permission of Archbishop Brian Joseph Dunn. Project Rachel is a service mark of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

Compassionate support

What support can look like

Every person’s experience is different. Some people reach out soon after an abortion; others carry grief, guilt, anger, sadness, or a sense of distance from God for many years. Project Rachel meets each person where they are.

A first conversation

Call or email for information, to ask a question, or simply to talk confidentially about what you are carrying.

Individual support

One-to-one healing sessions can be arranged. Individual and group programs generally meet weekly for 11 weeks.

Small-group support

A shared healing experience offers the care of women who understand this pain firsthand and have encountered God’s mercy.

Rooted in the Catholic faith

Healing in the love of Christ

Project Rachel is explicitly Catholic. Its approach is grounded in prayer, Scripture, God’s forgiveness, and the Church’s belief in the dignity of every human life. The ministry helps participants bring grief and woundedness into a personal encounter with the mercy of God.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out. If you have felt far from the Church, afraid to return, or unsure whether there is a place for you, please know: the doors of All Saints Parish are open. You are invited to come as you are and take one gentle step at a time.
